Long time listener, first time caller. Newbie
« on: 22 Feb 2020, 09:06 pm »
Just introducing myself. Interested in learning more about audio and interested in researching amps, streaming DACs and preamps. Looking to upgrade my Bob Carver Ultimate Receiver driving N802’s, need more juice!

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome!

200 watt receiver and 90 dB/w/m speakers and need more juice?  Man get your hearing checked.

As far as streaming DAC's go I'm a fan of NAD - Node 2i ($550), C658 ($1650, Node 2i "on steroids"), M10 ($2750, Master Series value leader, includes a 100 wpc stereo power amp).  The C658 and M10 also have Dirac Live (DSP room correction) built in.  No preamp, computer, or additional software needed for any of them.

JLM,

I’m just not getting the bass response from the speakers. From a mids/high standpoint they produce wonderful sound with the Carver.

Do either the C658 or M10 have the ability to supply signal to a subwoofer or would that require a preamp?

Thank you all for your input!

I'd get the N802's checked out, but yes both the C658 and M10 have dual subwoofer outputs.
