Welcome!

Suggest these steps to avoid missteps in audio:

- Learn music (like Jazz/Classical music for dummies)
- Listen enough to know what sonic attributes are important to you (detail, imaging, tight bass, big soundstage, dynamics, etc.)
- Decide if you have a room worthy of a good system (not tiny, not square, insulated, and dedicated), if not consider headphones
- Find local audio clubs for ideas and audition gear
- Use audio shows only to speaker with vendors and veto what you don't like
- Limit first round auditions to 3 or 4 pieces per day, using the same room/ancillaries, and taking notes to force you to differentiate
- Shop speakers first, then search for an amp that best serves the speakers

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome,

You might check out the DIYAudio forums as well.
The amplifier areas especially are populated by some very knowledgeable and competent people.
