Hi,

Well, the title says it all. There are HDMI cables on the market that support Ethernet over HDMI. Is this an attractive option for the SP3 or doesn’t it make a difference and is a HDMI cable without Ethernet just as good?

As long as it is HDMI 1.4 or above (which the website indicates it is) it should be able to carry ethernet - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI - "HDMI 1.4 was released on June 5, 2009, and first came to market after Q2 of 2009.[63][99][100] HDMI 1.4 added support for 4096 × 2160 at 24 Hz, 3840 × 2160 at 24, 25, and 30 Hz, and 1920 × 1080 at 120 Hz.[101](§6.3.2) It also added an HDMI Ethernet Channel "

Thanks for the reply. My SP3 has an HDMI 2.00 board and so has my 4K TV, but with a high-speed HDMI - Ethernet cable there is no connection between the two devices. This is not a big issue for me. It means that there is no need for use of an HEC cable.
