Hi, my name is Shaddy. I live in Seattle. I’ve been interested in DIY home audio, and I’m looking to build a pair of speakers.

The simplest loudspeaker to build is an OB.

Planet 10 is an Audio Circle member and sells unique speaker kits from Vancouver.

CSS is another seller of (very cool) speaker kits (monitors).

Madisound is another seller of speaker kits.  Lots of options if you look around. 

My old friend Randy sells Betsy open baffle speakers (low cost).

what a warm welcome! thanks everyone... i'll look into the speakers y'all recommended! I've been really interested in OB design recently. I have, for a long time, wanted to a build a speaker with high efficiency full range drivers (e.g. lowther, fostex) but I was thinking of starting with a less intimidating, and more affordable kit. I was considering the xls encores.

DIY electrostatic speakers may be a bit more ambitious than you had in mind, but the results are worth the effort.

The easiest ESLs use perforated metal stators but I prefer segmented wire-stator ESLs.  Extensive build instructions and parts lists for both types are given in my website here:

You might want to check out the GR Research Circle here on AC.
Danny has several Open Baffle kits including Open Baffle sub woofers and a new quasi Open Baffle studio monitor.

I have built a few of his designs over the years. Outstanding value and state of the art sound. That and he’s really a good guy to deal with.
