Since I was reading the another http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=16572&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0">post here on the circles, I wondered if I couldn't use my two GR Subs to make an IB setup.

What do you think Danny? :?:

I haven't tried them in that application yet, but by the numbers it looks to be a good candidate.

Just keep in mind you can't throw as much power on them in that configuration.

Thanks Danny for the quick reply.

Well I was thinking that I would just exchange my two PR's and get another pair of woofers.   :o

I think 4 - 12" subs in an IB setup for this room would be over the top anyway but hell it would be fun.

This project is a ways out anyway as we're just now planning to finish off our basement.  I will be finishing of a full bedroom down there, a full bath and what will be my dedicated listening/theater room (as well as a large storage closet).

So most of my money will go towards getting it all setup but if putting 4 -12" subs in an IB setup in the window well is a viable option, then I will build for it.  Screw the window.  I want bass.

I've been looking into having an IB, too. I've been following the IB forum for several months and it is a great source of info. One thing that they continually say is there is no replacement for displacement. In light of that, I think you will most likely need more than 4 x 12" subwoofers to avoid bottoming out. Even though Danny's subs look impressive, I'd be very wary of having too much power driving them. I would be very hesitant to have more than 100 watts going to each sub if you do end up going with an IB design. I'm somewhat of a novice, but I would think 8 would actually be the minimum, and even more would be better. It sounds like overkill, but when you think about it, there is very little pressure holding the cone in place, so a surprisingly small amount of power will get them moving a considerable amount. As with a line array, the more speakers you have, the less each one moves, so at a desired volume level, you need more to keep each from moving too much.
