So I was busy fooling around with all sorts of bits of wood. It was just way easier to do it playing the CD changer. Month, two months maybe going on three? Still fooling around. So today I was looking at my amp support.. Jeez it is a 1 /34" Maple butcher block.. When did I forget that ?? Anyway since I have a 3" I swapped them (and put back the Walnut in top. took the Walnut off trying other bits. well not as good.)
Anyway not I know the reason I was refusing to stick the 3" under the ARC phono! Because I needed it elsewhere. I knew but could not remember why..
Anyway I stuck the 18" by 19" 1 3/4" Maple way under the ARC Sp-15 preamp which I use exclusively for my Kuzma TT. The Butcher block in on the bottom shelf, some 2" blocks of Bolivian Rosewood (not Dalbegia) then a Walnut butcher block, then more 442 blocks the refrigerator magnet pad, some 1" wood and finally on all that the ARC preamp. Whew..
(I have been collecting the odd wood bits with piles everywhere... Having a few extra actually be useful.. Great!
So fired up the Kuzma and am playing my (always) first LP. Berstein's Gerswin Rhapsody in Blue and American in Paris. It is my tradition. I always play this if I have not played any records in a long time.
Gives me a baseline on how my phono stuff is 'today'.
Today is very good. With the exotic wood all over the place, the sound is just more alive.
