OK, got off the phone with Klaus and am sending my Stereo Stratos Extreme in and getting it Extreme Mono'd and picking up a twin for it.  Shh, don't tell my wife...

As a result the new beasts are going to have to move from a comfortable 1M IC length away from my deHavilland Ultraverve to about 2.5M away.  Any issues with that distance I should be aware of?

Question 2 - I'm planning on going with 2.5M Groneberg TS Premium IC's.  Anything else out there in this length that I should consider that won't cost another leg or arm?  I've run through quite a few cables and when the TS went in to the current setup, it just sounded right.  Like, AH, there we go!  So taking into account the fabled (and true) synergy I'm thinking that the TS will be tough to beat but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.  I've got about a week before I have to make a decision.

Thanks!

When I had to change the way my gear was setup, I went from 1m IC's and 5m speaker cables to 2m IC's and 2.5m speaker cables, I found a big improvement in overall system performance.  So from this, I've concluded that even if there's a detriment by using longer ICs, being able to use shorter speaker cables is more beneficial.

Ya, that's what I'm going to have happen too.  Right now I've got 1M ICs and 4M speaker cables.  What I'm thinking about is getting the speaker cables cut down to 1.5M and use the remaining 2.5M turning them into ICs since I've got TS Premium all around.

I just got an email back from Kara at deHavilland and she confirmed your findings as well!

And I didn't think it could get better!

it just sounded right. Like, AH, there we go! -----my thoughts exactly after i inserted these

I have always found shorter IC's to be better than longer ones.  Even if they are shielded, shorter ones seem to just sound better.  Haven't done any extensive A/B comparisons but longer wires seem to be asking for trouble.

I think it has to do with the cables in question.  If you are talking about a set of cables (assume similar construct) that have generally low capacitance and moderately high inductance then the added inductance with extra long speaker cables could be more detremental than the added capacitance in the line level.  Of course the preamp's output stage and the amps output stage have a significant factor in this as well.  Basically, I would venture to say that it is probably harder to tell in general what will be better.
