A current auction  has a Crown Jewel cartridge described as
"the third Crown Jewel cartridge I have owned. have been saving this for "a special" listening occasion, so only used it several times, and only on "Pink Floyd: The Wall" Japanese pressing. sold my turn table, and so regret to let this go"

Hi, Tonto,

I followed through by Googling Crown Jewel SE and it seems this is the same cart as a Shelter 501 ... which sells for US650, I think.  The Shelter 901 would be the one to go for!

Regards,

Andy

I believe the Crown Jewel is best for playing the JAPANESE pressing of Pink Floyd's "The Wall," while the Shelter 501 should be reserved for the American pressing ! :D

If you want to play Floyd's "DSOTM" you really should get a Shelter 901.

I always find it humorous when cartridges are advertised as such low hours: I just can't believe many people would buy an expensive cart, listen to it for such a short time (less hours than required for break-in), then decide to resell at a fraction of $$ invested.
I've never seen QUITE such a restricted playlist advertised as the above-mentioned Crown Jewel though.

I decided to pass on the SOTA after reading up on it some.
I started a thread on Audiogon that confirmed some of my fears about potential damage to the SOTA.

Oddly enough, I feel that I should now spend the $275 I "saved" on the SOTA (by not buying it). :D
