Vapor Tuonare

I’m putting up for sale my Vapor Tuonare. My planned mancave attic listening space was appropriated for other family needs and I had to move to a much smaller space. As a consequence, my beautiful pair of Vapor Tuonare were boxed and closeted but it’s now time to face facts and find them another home where they can be once again appreciated in all their splendor.

The Tuonare features a RAAL ribbon paired with a 4.5" mid and dual 7" slot ported woofers in a 3 way alignment and bass extension down to 32hz. The design features premium crossover components, Kimber cable throughout, WBT binding posts, and heavily braced Birch ply construction.  The cabinet features angular modern architectural styling to allow for a phase aligned baffle with a nice warm natural wood veneer to allow it to incorporate into any aesthetic.

The cabinet is constructed from heavily braced 18mm 13 ply Baltic Birch with a 1" thick MDF baffle, and walls are also mass damped.  Claro Walnut veneer with a matte finish completes the look. The width of the plinth is 14” at the back, so I guess the footprint is 14W x 22D, though the cabinet itself is 9” wide in front and 6” wide along the back.  Front of baffle to back cabinet wall is right 15”.

To recap, they feature dual 7" Wavecor fiberglas/paper composite cone woofers in a vented enclosure tuned to 33Hz, a 4.5" paper cone midrange and the new RAAL 64-10 tweeter.  The same line of drivers featured in the Nimbus and Stiff Breeze deliver incredible transparency, detail, and dynamics to high levels with exceedingly low distortion.  They also offer sensitivity of 90dB/2.83V so even modest amplifiers will suffice to drive them to high levels.

The Tuonare was intended to be the first of the Vapor lineup of new speakers designed for a dealer distribution network but then Vapor slowed into a temporary hiatus to handle their growing backlog of orders and the plans for dealer distribution were put on hold.

According to Vapor, the Tuonare has now morphed into a new speaker, the Brezza Forte, to be built by Vehement Audio.

“The Tuonare morphed into a model (the Breeza Forte, $15,995) built by some very excited guys in Kentucky.  It still uses a pair of 7" woofers for low end duty but now each woofer has its own tapered transmission line.  The midrange was replaced by a custom made SEAS reed cone 7" driver with a massive motor, and the RAAL 64-10 was upgraded to the 70-20XR.  The resulting system response is one of the smoothest we've ever built.  All that is now housed in an enclosure featuring a Corian baffle and top and sides made of premium MDF lined with the same inversion layer featured in Nimbus.”
