o.k. say i want to use a seperate cd player(sacd) from my dvd one, i also want to use a passive preamp with ht passthru -now the big question how does my sub get its bass managment info, my reciever does it now so all i have are a passive sub and a amp---do sacd players have a sub out channel? if so does it control the bass, is it as simple as puting a y before the sub amp?
thanx :stupid:

SACD players do have a sub out channel, but not all SACD'S use it.  Some surround mixes are 5.0 and some are 5.1.  Bass management functions vary by player, but I've read that most implementations muck up the sound of SACD.

Best plan here would be to go with an Outlaw Audio ICBM.  It's a fully analog 6 channel x-over, very well spoken of from all I've heard.  Only about $250 + shipping, so I don't think a person could go wrong.

MOST SACD/DVD-A players do bass management wrong if they do it at all.  I suppose this is changing, but even buying a very expensive unit won't guarentee they do it right.
