I just bought an Audio Note CDT-Zero transport from a guy who lives here in the USA now, but purchased the transport when he lived in New Zealand. It`s obviously 220 voltage, but he says you can open the unit up, and change wires or something to convert it to US 120 voltage.

My question is: is this true, and if so, what do you have to do to accomplish it? If you can`t do this, then I obviously have to get a voltage converter, and where would be the best place to obtain one?

Thank you for your time and consideration! Charles.

it would be best to contact audio note & ask them.  they may refer you to an authorized repair center, or they may actually tell you which wires need to be swapped so you can diy.  then again, they may get all huffy, & tell you to go pound sand - some mfr's are wery touchy about gear being used in different markets!  or, a good tech may be able to figure it out, if you yust take it in to them.

best place to get a step-up transformer, imo, is to go to ebay & search "step-up transformer"  there's always a ton of 'em there, in many different sizes.  i'd recommend getting one *at least* twice the wattage rating of yer transport.  ie: if your transport is 100w, then get at least a 200w step-up transformer.  and, cuz i have found that running a separate  isolation transformer for each piece of digital gear improves the sound - adding detail & lowering the noise floor, you may as well yust get the step-up, instead of doing the woltage change to the unit, as step-up transformers basically *are* isolation transformers, anyway.  of course, a dedicated isolation transformer like an oneac, xendak, powervars, etc, may have better specs...
