McIntosh MC162 Power Amplifier
Near-Mint Make Offer. Excellent Condition.
Shipped with FedEx Ground/Home Delivery. S/N PD2001

2x160W into 4-Ohms or 2x100W at 8-Ohms
Bridged: 500W (4Ω) or 320W (8Ω)

Features McIntosh's characteristic combination of high resolution and warm, enveloping tone.  I deliberately selected this particular amp because besides being in near-perfect condition it is exactly the 1000th MC162 manufactured by McIntosh [S/N PD2001] --- I have a thing for numbers.

Includes Balanced XLR inputs, multi-way speaker terminals. Direct-coupled means it delivers especially precise sound and can actually be lifted by mere mortals.

It's a Mac--and in spite of its clarity, agility, and power, the presentation is never edgy or brittle.  Against a dead-silent background it offers that characteristically warm, engaging yet precise McIntosh sound.  Meanwhile it will control--nay, compel--your speakers with absolute authority.

As you can see from the photos, not only do I have the original McIntosh double shipping box, this amplifier has never been shipped since its original delivery to my local dealer. They sold it new, took it in once as a trade-in and I'm the second owner. This is as 'virgin' and 'unmolested' an MC162 as you're likely to find and a possibly unrepeatable opportunity.  It's either an 8 or 9 on the AGS, as the only cosmetic issue I can see is faint smudging on top of the case (visible in photo).  The dealer checked its operation and replaced the panel lights as a prophylactic measure.

The face plate and glass are perfect as near as I can see, and the case isn't far behind. I'm asking $1695 plus shipping for the MC162.  The price is somewhat negotiable if you have a good track record on this or any other forum.

Offered along with this amplifier is my MAC-3 Preamp/Processor (see separate listing) which at $399 will tide you over until you find the McIntosh preamp of your dreams. It has both digital and analogue inputs so it's flexible; I use it essentially as a volume control for the MC162. I replaced its panel lights this past month.  I'll discount it considerably if you wish to buy it with this MC162.

Either I'm blind, senile or both!  :green:

In any case, free bump.
