Carver M-500t Power On After Years of No Power
« on: 23 May 2019, 05:48 pm »
Hi Everyone,
I am going to be putting a Carver M-500t up for sale on eBay and would like to test it before hand. It worked fine last time I had it in the system, but has been sitting with no power for several years. Is there any danger of damage if I just plug it in and turn it on? Or, should I bring it up slowly with a variac like a tube amp?
Any insight is appreciated.
Thank you,
Ken

Yes the capacitors can be damaged after all these years inactive, use a Variac in a few minutes step on. I would like 30 minutes in 20V + 30 minutes in 40V + 30 minutes in 60V + 30 minutes in 80V, if you have free time.
