I have a chance to purchase a Jvc Rx-Es1. I will using it just for 2 channel listening. My understanding from post reading is The Jvc does a better job than the Pannys. Now which receiver is better the Es1 or the Fx10? I will be using this with some tweaked Omage Av21 speakers (6ohm).
        Thanks in advance, Daman

I am not sure I would jump all the way to agreeing with "the JVC does a better job than the Panny".  It comes down to implementation.

The JVC sounds best with analog inputs, whereas the Panny sounds best using a digital input, according to most reports.

The F-10 is better at driving difficult loads than is the ES-1, but your speakers are rated at 6 ohms, so theoretically speaking both JVC's should handle your speakers.

By most accounts, the F-10 is much superior in build quality to the ES-1 - I have not had my hands on the F series, but did have an ES-1 for a couple of months - decent sound, but a little delicate in terms of construction.

So, can you help us out a little with your system, and I am sure that you will get some advice!

Do you listen to mostly vinyl, or cd?  Do you use a digital output, or analog output, from your cd source?  What size room?  Musical preferences?

mcgsxr is spot on with his analysis.

I never tried the ES-1 but I have the F10 and I HAD the Panny XR-45. For my 4 ohm speakers, the JVC blew away the Panny but a fellow audiophile drives his 8 ohm Polks with the Panny XR-50 and it sounds excellent.

It all depends what you are driving. Sort of like matching the engine to the car size. The JVC F10 will push a truck, the Panny's will do a better job pushing a small sedan.

I can tell you one thing about the JVC F10 - it's build quality is better than the Panny IMHO. I am continually amazed at the cost per $$ and build quality per $$.

TheChairGuy has owned both, his input would be invaluable.

Thanks guys,  I'm going to be using a pair of tweaked Omage Av21's. They are 6 ohm so should be fairly easy to drive. Room size is 12x12. I mostly listen to Cd's,music being Jazz. Sorry for answering so late I was out of town.

damn,

Don't know those speakers...try 'em out, see how you like it with the ES1sl.  Just make sure you have some sort of good power conditioning / the bet yo ucan afford to give it....the receiver won't sound as special without.

Let us know the results...bueno suerte  :)

I'd definitely go for the RX-ES1. I was driving the Omage speakers with my RX-F10S, it had no problems whatsoever. They're pretty easy to drive too, and about 89 dB efficient. If the RX-ES1 has a more tubelike feel than the RX-F10S then it's going to work out amazingly well for you IMO.

I bought one off ebay, sounded great out of the box, but after an hour it started to hum loudly. I could hear it in the other room.  The next day started it up again and the same thing happened. The guy said he would take it back, haven't seen any money yet. I have heard of others with quality issues with the Rx-Es1 but none with the F10. Might be good to check out any return policy.
Just my experience, now I'm on to a teac, Ryan

Ryan,

Who was the seller? I'm curious because I expecting my second ES1sl any day now. I'd certainly hate to have problems with the seller if problem came up.

Sorry your experience wasn't better.

I sent you a PM. I don't want to blast someone in a fourm. I haven't given up yet. He said he would refund, and he received the return a week ago. We'll see.
