Hello from Northern Ireland
« on: 3 Mar 2019, 08:53 am »
Hi, I just want to introduce myself. My name is Achim and I’ve suffered from the audio bug since age 14.

My main system consists of B&W 801M S2, Restek Vector, Krell KSA-250, Funk Firm Vector V/Alphason HR-100MCS/Ortofon 2M Black, Denon DCD1930 DVD/CD/SACD, Nakamichi RX-505, Revox B77, Sony ST-S570ES.

My 801s’ bass has left the building and I’m looking for a solution. The lowest octave is MIA. Everything else is ok.

Have tried all the obvious things (switching equipment, cables, checking fixing screws and connections, checking with B&W in Worthing). Could it be caused by bad caps in the XOs? I’ve had the speakers since 1993...

Any help would be appreciated.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome Torquerulesok :thumb:
Well the first octave are 20 to 40Hz,
there is no much music in this range
or even musical pieces that use these lows registers.

Welcome!

Your issue must be in the crossovers.  After 25 years capacitors can fail.

Welcome to AC!  Still have a pair of 25+ year old B&W P6s in a spare system (original owner).
