have two models of the DEQX for sale, one is a dealer demo (I want the preamp version) and one is a customer return from a 60 day trial (he took only 30) who found out his speakers weren't the right design for the processor (this I suspected, but we both wanted to see if it would work).

Not trying to cause any trouble but can you elaborate on the design that was not right for the processor?

Well, I shouldn't say "not right", more like not optimum.  However, results and personal taste vary.  The main issue is that it is a line array and those are very difficult to measure if you want to use the driver frequency response function.  I don't usually recommend that function for line arrays as it's hard to get a good read.  For line arrays, you want to mainly use it as a high-end crossover, room EQ and parametric EQ, not to try to deal with microscopic FR enhancement - too hard to do unless you have a small baffle point source.

I appreciate your honesty. Is it possible that you could put me in touch with this person so I could discuss his experience with the unit?
