Intro and Quick Question
« on: 13 Feb 2019, 12:20 am »
Hi everyone,
Just joined up as I'm delving into hifi and wanted some advice. Also maybe to buy stuff from AC members lol. I'm probably on the less techy/more "man this sounds good" end of the spectrum but I enjoy all the technical discussions more experienced Hifi enthusiasts have here and on other forums.

For right now, I'm focusing on headphone/DAC's/Amps combos but look forward to having a house where i can blast speakers someday. My budget is pretty solid, more a question of how much my midwestern sensibilities will allow me to spend on non-essential (but wonderful) items such as hifi equipment.

So far, I have an Audioquest Dragonfly Red with Massdrop/Sennheiser 6XX (125 hours burned-in) plugged directly into my desktop computer (6XX stock cables, non-balanced). I mainly use Google Play Music as my source (might try Tidal if recommended).

I'm currently trying to decide what my next steps in DAC/AMP combo will be. I'm willing to spend up to $2000-$2500 for the combo...so far I'm thinking Gumby multibit and Mjolnir 2. This may be due to having familiarity with Schiit but not many other companies yet. Thoughts? Other similarly priced options?

Thanks everyone, I look forward to joining the discussions as I go forward.

Welcome!  I just had the opportunity to hear the Cyrus Integrated (but via speakers vs headphones) at the Florida Audio Expo (from memory it was a bit over 1k - forgot if it was $1.1k or $1.4k) and it impressed me.

Thanks guys, I like the forum...lots of people that seem to know their stuff...I've enjoyed the discussions (arguments) about burn-in and/or expensive usb cables lol.
