Hello all, just introducing myself as a lifelong music lover who cant play a note if my life depended on it.
I'm currently picking up where I left audiophilia off at in my early teens in the mid eighties. When the early harsh sounds of CD and blowing my dad's TA-5650 drove me away from it (and girls drove me to distraction). That means I'm presently focused on exploring equipment from the late seventies/eighties and music from the stereo era intensely on a budget.
I've always loved good pop music of the day, because it's the best way of always keeping me current, in the here and now. But when Looking backwards, I seek moving artistic accomplishments from any genre that I feel have projected forwarded to today well. Unexplored gems bring thrills. Time is the truest filter, so I'm listening and filtering. We mostly agree that Mozart, Bach et al did it. I'm exploring whom else I think did it and recorded after 1956. Not leaving mono hifi out. I have an evolving theory about the relationship between the musical arts and how they bridge cultures and the past and present. If anyone dare ask.
Then there's the equipment. Whoa! The more I listen, the more my sensory side craves just a little better sound quality. AND The STEM side of me is constantly fighting the lure of a better made piece of equipment to attain that nirvana. Bound to be one helluva rabbit hole. Sound familiar? Thankfully my only defense is an excellent defense - my humble bank account. Hope to bump into some of you on the good side of that journey occassionall.!
