Just wondering what folks have for resolutions in re to their audio systems in 2019. Upgrade... Downgrade.. Specific component(s) that you want to upgrade... See more live shows... etc etc... Let's talk music and why it touches our souls.

I’ll be going to the Florida Audio Expo in February. I might upgrade the power supply on my music server this upcoming year and I’m sure I’ll look at something else.

A 12" tonearm for the new plinth that I had made for my Lenco L75.  Looking at an old Denon DA-202.

Along the same lines as JohnR, finish some very long term amp projects and a balanced buffer/preamp.

Cheers to all,
Wayne

Welcome to AudioCircle jomama63

I never do New Years resolutions as no one ever really keep to them. One thing I have been doing lately is de-cluttering and I hope to keep that up as I am seeing results. 2 days ago I took about 70 records to the charity shop, these are either duplicates or records I do not listen to. I want to keep the space for records I will actually listen to.
If you are interested here https://cloud.collectorz.com/toocool4/music/ is my music collection, if you click on any of the thumbnails it will show you the contents of the Album / CD / Cassettes

Welcome to AC!

In 2019 I am going to try not to make any major audio purchases, as I blew the bank in 2018. Going to just try and enjoy what I have now, and listen to the sweet tunes.  Will see how long that lasts.

My Audio resolution is continued downsizing of excess , duplicate/triplicate components in my hoard o gear.    It was as if over the years I had been curating a warehouse of audio "stuff"   and while most of it was set up in various systems at various times,  I shelved more than I parted with as newer things came in.

So.... 2019 goal.  reclaim space,  make the tougher "which one stays , which one goes" decisions . ex: VAC PA160 MKII monos or  Manley Classic 300b  -  those are tough choices  but being Liquid is definitely an incentive.  I've seen too many people leave their family with gobs of gear to sort through after their untimely departure.   I want to be "backpack" ready.   Light , agile , ready to move at a moment's notice if opportunities arise etc.   90lbs amps and rare ( although not valuable ) components from vendors that the market thinks is cool but won't ante up to own?  That stuff weighs you down.   Not to mention that the audio market is slowing to a crawl  so the stuff with value and market interest needs to find a home with new owners.  I'll take the cash in its place.

At the end of the day , it's just STUFF ( as George Carlin once joked). Audio isn't exactly an investment vehicle outside of a handful of components that the Far East market has an obsession with.   and cash is way easier to store and ... if managed properly at least has an opportunity to grow a little .

The time saved in pursuing audio as a hobby goes back to family, creating music, art, and educational certifications etc.    Quit entirely? probably not. I enjoy the local get togethers here in MA.  and there are certainly pieces of gear that I'm still curious about.   but collecting at the scale I had been previously.   No thanks  :)

Welcome to AC.

For 2019 I will sell off my unused/under used gear, and I will buy a killer DAC for my main system. I will experiment with single driver (possibly OB) designs to see if they make me smile. I will buy some acoustic treatments. Then, I will be done upgrading - really. I will devote more time to outdoor activities (gardening, grilling, hiking, traveling).

Adding 4K to my HT, new PJ and BRD player on the video side.

Auro 3D maxes out at 10.1 with my Marantz 7702 processor. In 2018 I matrixed in a height center channel to make it an 11.1 system. I am going to add wide channels and rear surround and rear height channels by matrixing them in with a circle surround processor in 2019 and add an additional subwoofer. This will make it a 17.2 auro 3D system in 2019 on the audio side!

A possible secondary idea is to stop posting to, or starting, any threads about cables of any form in any and all forums.  :o

I have already started selling my excess, I am going to keep that up.

I agree with Elizabeth, too much controversy about cables.
