New to Audio Circle

New to Audio Circle

My name is Richard I live in the LA area and a lifelong audio fanatic.  I'm 68 years old  and getting beyond the ability to hear high frequencies and do DIY.  I've become an "appliance operator" in my dotage. I have an inexpensive ProJect record player, Studer reel to reel and various digital setups from Allo, Lyngdorf, and others. I use Roon but I'm not sure it sounds any beter than other players. My preamp is a Bent Audio 102M, my amps are a pair of Pass ALEPH 1.2 monos  (work as room heaters too) Speakers are from Harbeth.

Pic sort of reminds me of my old Dynaco ST-70 I owned at one point many moons ago (probably around 1990, give or take).  A neighbor where I lived at one point had the ST-70 and a Dynaco preamp sitting in his garage.  I noticed them and asked if he wanted to sell them.  He told me they didn't work.  I ended up trading for them and giving him a pair of mini speakers I had laying around that cost me something like $140.  I threw the Dynaco components in an upstairs bedroom on the floor.  A year later I decided to see what the problem was.  The amp need a $12.50 tube and the preamp a $0.79 LED I got at Radio Shack.  That would get so hot one could fry eggs literally.

Thank you for all the welcome posts, Yes these Pass amps get hot, especially in SoCal.  but they sound so good as they gulp the power from the grid, and they take a hour of warmup to sound any good. The things we do for love...

I think they sound very tubelike with some more base umph in my system. I have a pair of triode monos (Accrasound output trans,) these Pass amps sound very much like the triodes.
