Brief Introduction
« on: 9 Dec 2018, 12:23 am »
It seems it is customary to introduce one's self.  I'm a long-time but returning audiophile and mediocre pianist who has found that this site is an interesting mix of technology, ears, rationality and DIY.  FWIW, my next project is to rebuild my Quad 57s, which need it desperately.

Thanks all!

What does one have to do to get the "search" function to work?  I can use the regular search engines, I suppose, but it sure would be easier if the built-in site function did so.

Welcome DrJ-10!

If you're a mediocre pianist then you are considerably better than I am.

Hi Dr J,
Many here would covet your Quad 57's.  I heard a pair for the first time 2 years ago at Carverfest and was amazed to discover that they actually do have pretty decent bass output.  I've built quite a few DIY ESL speakers over the years but never restored a pair of Quads.  There's a guy named Sheldon Stokes that rebuilds Quad 57's and he even has a restoration guide.  He's a really nice guy too.

Keep us posted on your restoration.

It probably wouldn't help much with your 57 restoration but you might like my DIY ESL website below:
