I am looking for a SS preamp with phono section MM/MC input. Anyone have great experience with anything in particular?

I use an SST Ambrosia....highly recommended. I use it with both the internal MM and MC.  Can't say how they compare to the best external units but I and most who have listened to them think they sound pretty good

Look at Pass Labs, BAT, Luxman and Vinnie Rossi.  BAT and Luxman make SS and Tube preamps.  VR is tube.

The Modwright LS-100 with the optional tube phono board is also a solid choice.

I really like my McIntosh C52 and can easily recommend it.   The C47 is also a solid state option without the equalizer tone control options.
