dy1026u from germany

Hi,

my name is Hartmut. I live in Hamburg/Germany and I am interesting in diy-speakerbuilding. Long time I´m listening to a 10" rockwood dy1026u fullrangespeaker in a 90 liter bowl with bass-reflex, made from papier mâché.

Last year I try to add high-frequency-speaker to the dy1026u. After a lot of tests with different chassis I use Westra BT-52 and built myself a Koax with the dy1026u. After that I decided to put this Koax on a wall and added with 2 10"  Kenford HW-1006  openbaffle-bass-speaker.   filtered by 2x4 miniDSP HD and powered by 2 small PA-Amps.

I like vintage speakerchassis, also. One of my next project´s is built 8" Saba Greencone plus the small green high with 2  12" Kenford HW1206 on a wall.

let´s have fun  8)

nice greatings, Hartmut

Welcome aboard Hartmut :thumb:
What you would say about the 8" Saba Greencone used as OB mid (over 300Hz)??

Thanks for your welcome.

I like the Saba very well.

My first contact with the Saba was 2006. A friend of mine had built a great open baffle with 4 Saba and the green tweeter.

After hearing this big open baffle I was building my own, sometimes crazy thinks

edge styled open baffle with 2 Saba , 1 DEW Dortmund, 1 Philips

egg design speaker

watercan resonance box with Saab

After this stuff my favorite Chassis changed to RFT

After this I changed to rockwood dy1026u and listened to this a long time in various cases and since march 2018, the modified dy1026u in open baffle

Since 2 days I listened to Saba again. I built up a quick testbox

runs up 150hz, over 2x4 miniDSP HD, without any correction...  The 2x2 Kenford HW 1006 plays the part under 150hz

I will messure this in the next days. For my ears it sounds great, lets see...

Greetings Hartmut

Thanks for the photos Hartmut, these speakers are really great value to DIY made.
Do you mind say how that egg shaped enclosure was made?

The egg was a very special project, to try special box material, also

I like to show you some pics, to make it easier.

First I built this form

put foil on it and  than papermachee, mixed with Styrofoam bowls   (that's not so good, it is much better without Styrofoam)

it takes very long time to dry!

I saw it in 2 pieces to get the form out and glow the 2 pieces together

glowing the baffle in

That's it!  8)

Greetings, Hartmut
