NEW Exodus Multipurpose Filter
« on: 18 Jan 2005, 08:21 pm »
These are now in stock & shipping.   For many people these are a great solution as they cover a range of functionality.   I designed them for use in our products but we are selling them as a stand alone board for DIYers & those looking to solve problems in other commercial equipment.

The most asked for feature we were looking to solve was transformer hum related to DC on the mains.   We also designed these to slip into our Exodus JR Filter boxes so that we could provide DC filtering for those who don't want to try and mount these in an exhisting amplifier chassis (voiding warrantee & creating install issues).  Cost is $50 for the board as shown.

Hi Kevin
Have you discontinued this?
I can't find it on your web site anymore.
Thanks, Ryan

Nope.... we are just backordered on the 5524s at the moment and I took them off the site rather than have a bunch of backorders pending.

I expect the 5524s in another 2-3 weeks.

I have a question about this product.

I have an infocus x1 projector that is plugged directly into the wall. At certain times of the day it definitely has a transformer hum. I have not been able to isolate it to any single component in my system. As far as I can tell it could be associated with the streetlights outside (no cable tv in the system, and a cheater plug didnt work).

Is this a product that would fix this? How would I box this thing up in a package to sit between the outlet and the projector plug, if at all?

Actually I'm not sure what your problem is but the DC filter is for toroidal transformers which saturate with DC easily.   Primarily this is a problem with power supplies used in large amplifiers.   The transformer physically vibrates.  Your PJ uses a switching power supply, if I'm not mistaken, and while the RFI filter may help keep RFI off your mains it probably won't help with your problem.

But will that filter work with 220V/50 Hz, because that's what I need down here in sunny Vina Del Mar...:D
