I Love the Nightlife by Alicia Bridges.  I was on the I Hate Disco bandwagon - even had a shirt with "Disco Sucks" on the front.  Now I love this song.  Go figure.  I blame senility.

Pretty much everything by Bob Dylan.  Neil Young, too.

Not so much as like, but more learned to respect:
Anything by Captain and Tennille. Talented musicians and well produced.
Just terrible songs. Even the muskrats hate it.

All Jazz. I mean I hated Jazz as a teenager, hated it in my 20s 30s 40s.. Finally somewhere along the line I watched DVD series of Ken Burn's JAZZ. And suddenly realized what those guys are doing!
I was also lucky that was in the later 1990's. So I could easily buy tons of great Jazz LPs dirt cheap over the next ten years. Now easily one half of all my listening is to Jazz, the other 40% to Classical, and maybe 10% to Rock/Pop/

Any Way You Want It by Journey.  Once I saw it in Caddyshack, I fell for it.

I can’t really think of any, but I’ve got something related that I think we all can all relate to...

The Beastie Boys released License to Ill when I was in 6th grade or so. I loved it and my parents hated it. It was the first time I heard the phrase “one-hit wonder.” Somehow they were still at it and relevant until MCA (Adam Yauch) passed away in 2006 from cancer. Yeah, great call with that one-hit wonder prediction :) And despite that they thought I’d only like them as a kid, I own their entire catalog. I was giving my mother a ride a few months back and had a Beastie Boys song on. My mother says “this is a pretty good song; who is it?” I chuckle and say “the Beastie Boys.” She says “wow, these guys have been around forever” to which I replied “yeah, that one hit wonder prediction went exactly how you thought it would. They stopped making albums when one of them died of cancer a few years ago.”

Then I sneakingly played a Metallica song. She asks “is this Metallica?” Pretty much the same conversation, only I liked them a few years before the “One” video everyone went crazy for. And they’re still making albums.

I asked how her parents felt about the Beatles. She said “they just didn’t get it.” I just smiled and nodded.

When I first heard and saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan back in 1964 as a freshman in college in 1964, yeah i thought they were kinda funny looking with their suits and hair. But when they started flooding the top 40 on radio, maybe my first impression was "where are the horns". Now I like their early stuff that everyone probably laughs at.  :thumb:

For some reason, I didn't like the Little Feat song 'Skin it Back' until I heard them do it live.

Mentioning the Beatles.. When I was just entering teen years, the Beatles came along. I really never liked the Beatles then at all. I was more a Bob Dylan, Joan Baez sort of person, and I liked Classical music.
Until the album by the Beatles "Rubber Soul". That was the first Beatles album I bought.
A few years ago I heard the Beatles at the BBC, and that got me interested in early Beatles albums.
I am not much for nostalgia though. If I hear an old song I enjoyed, so be it. But I do not go looking for a nostalgia hit very often.
