Since my room might not be perfect for two tall 6x12" OB subs I'm considering four stacks of three drivers.

What could a possible placement be?

One on each side of each main speaker?
Two at the front and two at the rear?
All four stacks between the mains?

It really depends on the room as to what configuration will work best.

If the room is really long then a pair up front and a pair in the rear would be great.

A pair on either side of the main speakers and back from the front baffle by a foot or two might work really well too.

Thanks Danny, the room is not that long and since the ceiling is angeled about 45 degrees down to about 140 cm there is a lot of space behind the main speakers. That makes your last option the better.
