Jefferson Airplane was one of my favorite bands growing up.  He will be missed.

Guess I will have a Airplane marathon to remember Marty. I saw the Airplane twice. Great band. Both shows ended with a bunch of fans on stage dancing as the band played. RIP

Saw the Airplane three times: at Woodstock, the Fillmore East, and a NYC park. All were fantastic shows lasting hours: they were my favorite group of the time. Balin was a great singer/songwriter. RIP.

Rock in peace, Marty. Saw him only once with Jefferson Starship but he had one of those voices it is impossible to forget.
