Must See! The "Happy Together" Tour
« on: 20 Aug 2018, 02:03 am »
Saw these GREAT performers last night in St Louis:
The Turtles
The Association
The Cowsills
Chuck Negron (Three Dog Night)
Mark Lindsay (of Paul Revere and the Raiders)
Gary Puckett (Union Gap)

Was astounded to know this is the 9th year of the Happy Together Tour, and STL was one of the last stops on their more than 40-stop summer tour.  Mark Volman of the Turtles put the tour together, and their backing musicians were terrific.
These guys are in there 70's, and most still had their voices in good shape.  The Cowsills rocked it, as did The Association.   Mark Lindsay sounded GREAT, and Gary Puckett was still strong. Negron brought the house down with Jeremiah/Bullfrog.

Mark Volman's Turtles band-mate was ill and couldn't make it, but the guy who lead "The Archies" (Sugar, Sugar) was a fabulous fill-in.   Sadly, Volman's voice is half-shot, but he still owned the stage.  All the performers had great stories from the 60s, and on the screen behind them were videos of the bands from back in the 60s, even commercials we grew up with!   A lot of sing-alongs made it so much fun, and probably gave the singers a chance to catch their breath.

Great show, but given the age of the audience, they couldn't quite pull off a standing ovation. :)

Tonight they're in Kansas City, and then head toward Casinos in Wisconsin and Minnesota.   If you can catch them, do so!
