Greetings from North Carolina
« on: 24 Jul 2018, 02:50 pm »
Hi, all.

Thanks for admitting me to AudioCircle. I'm not sophisticated about this stuff, so I'm here mainly to watch and learn.

I'm most drawn to gear from the '60s and '70s (my coming-of-age years), and I'll be interested in opinions about Hartley, Tannoy, and Bozak speakers, plus all things McIntosh and Marantz. I also have a soft spot for Heathkit (such as the sweet little AS-18s in the photo).

Thanks again. I'm looking forward to this.

Welcome to AC, tbheels.

It's been years...even decades since I heard a vintage system. I can't remember what it sounds like anymore. Someday I'll get to listen.

Welcome tbheels! I too have a very soft spot for Heathkit. I'm in Wake Forest, how about you?

Welcome tbheels! Nice system!

We've been talking causally for a long time about doing a vintage-only meet in Cary.

Thanks, all, for the welcome messages.

sledwards and richidoo: I'm in Wilmington, so within a reasonable drive to the Triangle.

Beautiful Heathkit system, sledwards. I have only a few Heathkit pieces these days--a single AS-2 on metal legs, along with three (not four, sadly) of the AS-18s. My tube amp, preamp, and tuner are long gone to a buyer who had access to timely repairs. We don't have much selection for experienced techs down here, so I might look to your area for recommendations when I need repairs. (I have a KLH Twenty-One that needs a thorough service. Bought it in Raleigh, by the way.)

Thanks again. Glad to be here.

AHHH the vintage sound. Like a good bottle of fine wine. Cool stuff. My bet with a up to date digital front end or cart it must just sing.

Thanks. Living in the past sounds good to me!
