Cass Wilson's "Glamoured"--playable??
« on: 9 Jan 2005, 05:38 am »
Wilson's latest disc "Glamoured" has gotten a lot of negative response because it's unplayable in some devices.

Scroll down the link, and you'll find a surprising number of people (7 of 32)who complain about the bad sound or unplayability of the disc due to attempts at copy control. Some claim that's it's not really a "CD standard" disc.

Anyone have this and have problems?

I've seen the problem arise on other "CD's". I forget what they do with the copy protetion that makes it no longer conform to redbook standards, and therefore make it technically not a "CD". And when it's no longer a "CD", it doesn't always play in everything.

I used to remember all of that a lot better when I was burning discs....

I have it and it plays fine.  Hmmm, is there more than one version?

My wild guess is that it's just one version but that whether it plays or not is just a matter of luck?? Some of the negative reviews mention car players, one guy has problems with a Levinson CD. The 25 positive reviews obviously have no problem.
