Laurel on my PC......I hear both at the same time on my phone.
My wife hears only Yanny.....shes 12yrs younger (45) than me.
On TV last night they explained it....young vrs old....different freq. etc.
At the end....they said it originally was Laurel.

Depends on what you listen to it with. Yesterday, on the TV, it sounded like Yanni. Today, on my PC speakers, it sounded like Laurel.

The NY Times tool mentioned in a previous post is fun, the actual word the person is saying Laurel, though without lowering the pitch I hear Yanny.
Wired has an article explaining it all, it's more complicated than you think:
The True History of 'Yanny' and 'Laurel'
