BDP-1 UPnP and output selection
« on: 15 May 2018, 12:02 pm »
I'm comparing three DACs simultaneously connected to a BDP-1. I have separate DACs attached to each of the BNC and XLR outputs, and another DAC attached to one of the USB sockets. I have DNLA Renderer selected on the BDP to receive audio from Audirvana+. I find I can receive audio to both ESI Juli outputs or to the USB connected DAC but not all three together.  Which of these two outcomes becomes active seems to depend on which is selected on my preamp at time of starting the DNLA Renderer selection. Does this make sense and should it be the case? Or is there something that can be done to receive audio from all three outs so I can selectively listen to each of the three DACS while playing a song?

thank you

Hi D,

This is normal behaviour, the only playback software that can output to multiple audio devices (balanced XLR and BNC are treated as one) simultaneously is MPD.  For all other playback services the BDP will give the USB DAC priority if one is detect upon startup.

Thanks, Chris. Know I know that, I'll close the render feature and pull MPD up to compare the DACs.
