Audio noob, but with great potential :)
« on: 8 May 2018, 09:45 pm »
Hello

I`m a 31y old guy, born in Romania, moved to Monaco 3 years ago. I`ve always been interested in hifi but untill recently i wasn't REALLY able to afford it, as I always had other priorities.
I currently own 2 stereo systems, one home theater one and a few headphones
1 - HK990 and HK3490 with Bang and Olufsen Beolab Penta,
2 - Pioneer LX82 and Denon A1XV with Quad 22L@, Quad 12L, Quad center+Sunfire True Signature
3 - Styleaudio Carat Sapphire DAC + Lehmann Linear > Sennheiser HD800, HD650 and RS175 wireless
4 - Nuprime DAC 9 + 2x STA 9 and DIY speakers (Troels Gravesen based) with ScanSpeak 10 inch bass, Accuton 8" mid and Audax tw (I love these!!)

Welcome to the Circle. I'm guessing you're single?

Not at all :)

Been married with this gorgeous lady since 2016 :)

it's just that she accepts that i'll probably never grow up

ps: i forgot to mention, i also bought a Rotel RB 1090, but didn`t have time to pick it up from Switzerland and there are many many chances that i'll buy an Audio GD Master 10 next time i'm in Romania.

i might have a taste for bargains. Since i don`t have the option to test them before, i just look for whatever i know it`s really good, i wait untill i get them at a good price, i keep what i like, i sell what i don`t

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

i'm noob as in i dont really hear very subtle differences between DACs, for example, as most of the people here claim to. i felt absolute 0 difference between the Styleaudio Carat Sapphire and the Nuprime DAC9. nor the difference between usb and optical on the later one and ESPECIALLY no difference between speaker cables.

To be able to buy stuff doesn't make you an audiophile (in fact i'm not really sure that I WANT to become one :)

is just appreciate good and clear sound.  I could, however, hear the huge difference between the Quad 22L2 (decent speakers) and the DIY Accuton/ScanSpeak. Also between the HK990 (again, decent piece of kit) and the Nuprimes. Next week i'll have the Rotel RB 1090 to compare it with.
