If this seller is really Ecosse Cables, then it might be legit. Since they are including 2K worth of the Ecosse cable it may very well be a real deal. Not that I have 13K to spend on a preamp. :o

I would be very careful on this one.  If it really is a legit company such as Ecosse, why not say so.  Also, legit companies usually accept credit cards, pretty hard to do business otherwise.  If it is somebody using their name just to make you think they are a real company, then a red flag should go up.  Have you contacted them and offered to pay Paypal fees if they would take Paypal?  Too many of these send the money to some foreign country scams out there to feel good about this.

One thing you might consider is contacting Ecosse directly.  Ask them about this Audiogon listing using their name.  See what they have to say.

The question should really be:
"Why would anybody pay $13k for a pre-amp?"
A "straight wire" for $13k? Are you freaking kidding me?

I have heard, admittedly unsubstantiated, rumours that Ecosse is going down, going out of business. It seems they were in fact repackaging Taiwan's Neotech cables as their own, having the factory make runs of their say $20 per yard cable renamed Ecosee XXX, and selling them for say $100.

I don't know if this is true or not, but since I buy British audio mags, I can say that they have been out of them with any news for over two years.

Also, I have a stretch of their Big Red power cable which I bought off a friend, and comparing it with locally obtained Neotech cable, I must say they measure the same, look the same and feel the same. This may be a one-off case, but I think not.

In view of the recent events with Tara Labs, I'd say repackaging with a hefty markup was the order of the day.

So, this could be a clearance offer. In which case I'd advise extra caution.

Cheers,
DVV

I did. Quite a few, in fact. Some are covered in a text on my site, http://www.zero-distortion.com .

In a nutshell, these are some mean cables. Not all of them, but some, copper and silver, using monocrystal technology, are truly outstanding cables. In my view, on a par, and often better, than many famous brand name products costing up to 10 times as much.

In fact, I plan on upgrading to them in the near future.

Glad you liked it. Unfortunately, I have so little time to dedicate to that site, far less than I'd like to. Oh well, ...
