James,
I have been running my TC1 speaker with a 7B3 for a while. I decided to trade in the 7B3 for a 4B3 and bi-amp the center.
So i ran a splitter on the interconnect from the center channel into the 4b3, so i could now use both channels.
I removed the jumper bars between the binding posts.
I was then going to run a speaker cable from each channel of the 4b3 into the TC1.
One speaker cable to the top binding post, and one cable to the lower binding posts.
BUT, before i hooked it all up i decided to just hook up just one speaker cable first to the bottom binding posts. To my surprise sound was coming from ALL the speakers
instead of just the 2 woofers. So i then moved the speaker cable to the top binding posts and ALL speakers were active again including the woofers
which shouldn't be. As stated previously the jumper bars were removed.
So i removed the plastic cover with the binding posts to see if there was a wiring mix up. One wire had it's positive and negative hooked up
to the top binding post. The other wire had it's positive and negative hooked up to the bottom binding post. So from this point it all
looked ok. Both the wires were plugged into an internal board inside the speaker.
SO i am guessing that there maybe something strange going on with the internal wiring.
Did some further testing with a 9 volt battery to try a polarity test. Very interesting results.
I took the internal wire connected to the BOTTOM binding post(supposedly the woofer). I touched the wire to the battery -positive to positive and negative to negative.
The woofers pushed OUT and and the midrange speakers were sucked IN
I took the internal wire connected to the TOP binding post(supposedly the midrange and tweeter). I touched the wire to the battery -positive to positive and negative to negative.
The woofers pushed OUT and and the midrange speakers were sucked IN - Same result as with the other binding post.
