Loud CD

I picked up the new Marion Meadows CD "Players club" yesterday. I like it. Sounds real good. But!!!! That thing is the loudest CD I've ever had. Normally I have my preamp volume control set to about 8oclock. I have to turn it down to 7 if I listen to this CD. I don't get it? How come it's so much louder than others.

It's probably peak-limited.  Can you capture one of the songs to a WAV file and view its waveform shape?  That would be the tell-tale story.

I hate those loud CDs. Thankfully its possible to set gain correction if you're using Foobar2000. Just haven't figured how though  :lol:
