Welcome to the forum Citronex,

I think OB is a good choice for a DIY project.  The stuff on the Linkwitz site is really impressive. 

You might also consider another type of OB-- the electrostatic variety.  They sound fantastic and building the actual driver itself takes cool to a whole new level.  If you're interested: http://jazzman-esl-page.blogspot.com/
