What was sold?

Why do people do this?

Good question Jim. There seems to be more and more of this.

From the forum guidelines:

Please update your item listing when it is sold by modifying the title of the original post. Do not erase the ad.  Old ads help other sellers set a selling price.

Bugs the hell out of me too!

Would be nice to just leave it and have some historical reference points for future used transactions.
Useful for both buyers and sellers.

I don’t see too many ads being completely earased; just the removal of the asking price which IMO is tantamount to removing the whole ad. If we need a volunteer to enforce or help out in this regard, I am willing. I also think it worth considering limiting access to this area if the rules are broken.

I really didn’t think it was a big deal.

Lame.

I've been selling used audio gear for 25 years and have never once experienced what you say.

And if it does happen....simply ignore.  Don't engage.  None of your precious time is wasted.
Or simply reply back that you have no interest in that discussion.
5 seconds of your valuable time wasted.

Either have I.

But it doesn't really matter either way.  There are rules and guidelines for posting ads, so I'll just follow them in the spirit of the community If I want to post my ads here.  If I don't agree with them I can simply choose not to use the free Trading Post.

Seriously....if you don't want to follow the rules, don't post in this section.  Simple as that.

Wasting your time....lol.  If you followed the rules, this thread wouldn't exist and you wouldn't have replied to it.

Based on his post history this is the only place he posts on the forum so he knows the rules.

Actually I didn’t. I guess I should have read the rules more carefully, my bad.

Please edit the original post with the price and what you sold.

Post-sale deletion of ask price and other details is epidemic on this board.
It's more the norm than the exception.  Been bugging me for years.
Just can't think of one good reason for it.

Probably...although, he also deleted his follow-up rationalization post.  lol.

Ridiculous.

A simple but effective strategy when a request for compliance is refused.

I used to do this time to time because in my case I sold my items priced at 50% retail so as courtesy to buyer so he can resell comfortably. I don't do that any more though.
