Ironic, I went the reverse. I'd been running single ended pentode tube amp at 5-10 watts (it's my avatar), and tried First Watt by building the Nelson Pass Amp Camp Amps (ACA) at 8 watts (now for sale in another post in this Circle
). I liked the sound enough to spring for the J2 which is now my main amp. At 25 watts, it is a powerhouse compared to where I was!
If your sale came up when I was making the decision, I would have grabbed it fast. As it went, I was very happy to buy a demo unit from Reno for more than you are asking. Even buying First Watt used, you get the remainder of the warranty term transferred. From Reno, demo or refurb, you get a full warranty but, in this case, it's only a few months old.
