Thank You for taking me in.

Hi Folks,
Joe here.  First let me say what lead me here is the Well Tempered forum.  The Simplex has been my "dream" turntable and I finally acquired one days ago.
My primary interest is home built single ended amplifiers, single driver speakers, and LP's.  Easy to build two stage amplifiers and open baffle speakers and it sounds good.
Hoping this place is a friendly and open minded place  :)

For my ears, there is nothing sweeter than the globe 50.  If I get the courage to try it again, the GM70 is awesome (I built such an amp a couple years ago but did not feel comfortable every time I powered it up (but of course 300-500V can kill you too).
Not that I own a pair but my favorite full range is the RCA LC1A.  I am fortunate enough to hear them frequently.  The RCA SL-12 is also very good.  It's all good - for instance, I also have a 6em7 amp and Radio Shack 40-1354's in small boxes - such a inexpensive setup and I could easily live with it from here on.  Everything you build always sounds "the best" - i'm gonna bet you know exactly what I mean!

This is correct, I know what you means.
I have many GM70s graphite and one copper, I promptly saw this valve was spectacular even better than 845 at a bargain price, what stop me was the transformers.

Not ideal but I used a substantial sized transformer from Electra Print - it's 3.5k primary and 4, 8, 16ohm secondary - 120ma.  My speaker is 8ohm so I just connect the OPT secondary to 4ohm.  That reflects back to the primary making it 7K.  I'm sure it did not have the appropriate inductance - that can cause a lack in bass (sorry I do not understand why) - it worked beautifully and with a single driver low/full bass is not there anyway.  Something to think about if you have a similar transformer in your "storage bin".
