Belt replacement advice

I have a Vyger Timor TT with a outboard motor.  The other day, the belt snapped. I've got an old back up, but I'm wondering... If the diameter is the same, and the belt can be brought to workable tension, does the length really matter?

I just replaced my belt on my Well Tempered Reference with a belt from Origin out of the UK.
 Couldn't be happier with this belt.

The motor distance can be adjusted to the belt age/loose.
I suppose the belt can be used til break, its not a critical use.

If the belt diameter is the same, and the motor can be adjusted to give the belt the right tension.. Then NO the belt length does not matter at all.

That's what I would have thought, but in this crazy hobby where everything has an effect, I wanted to ask.

The owner manual dont mention the motor min-max length range?
