Pulling ad - I'll repost any stragglers from this listing.....................
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm listing most of my backup tubes for sale.  This listing is for signal/driver tubes.  (I also have 5volt rectifiers and pentode power tubes.  Ask if interested in anything in particular.)  All in the 6922/6DJ8 family and are usually interchangeable in amps that run this type.  Check for compatibility on your own particular amp/preamp if in doubt.  I have tried all of these types in my Dennis Had Inspire SEP amp with good results.  The last group of four types are not in this family.

The Russian signal tubes are surprising in their sound quality, yet many still pursue much more expensive vintage alternatives.  At these prices, they are worth a try.  Prices are listed.  I will give a price break, and/or wave paypal fees, for multiple sets/tubes.  Shipping will be a flat $6.00 anywhere in the US regardless of quantity purchased.  Paypal adds 3.2%.

Here is a group photo of most of these.  Ask if you would like photos of specific tubes.  I'm happy to do that, just didn't want to take the time to do so with all of these at once.  All were purchased as NOS or as testing new and then were stored.

There is one person's review of the Vokshod 6N23P's below.  In general, the Russian tubes of these types are considered desirable prior to 1980.  After that, more ordinary.  Most of what you see on ebay these days is 1980's and later.

Here is a laborious testing and review by one seller:

Quote
These tubes are gaining a strong following and selling for very reasonable prices, I don't think that'll last.  I have a half dozen Russian dealers scouring for these, I hope they can turn up a few more pairs.  Before I sell a pair I Detox and ProGold enhance the pins, then they have to go through a complete checkup.  I reject 10 tubes for each one I sell.

For informational purposes these were my take on the various Voskhod 6n23p Rockets:

All Voskhod Rockets 6n23p Kaluga factory:

#1 1975 Gray Shields - Supreme detail, coupled with this magical flow or liquidity to the music...just draws you in.  I try to read while listening to my headphones.  These just make you drop the book and turn the volume up.  Sit back and enjoy the ride as they sweep you away.  Rich textured tone, deep extended tight bass...Who said the HD800 have wimpy bass!  Not with these.  Sound stage - surround sound, reflected sounds actually project behind you!  As well as wall to wall and 30 ft deep in front, with tons of air blooming from each instrument.  The effect enhanced by closing your eyes.  I did this last night...for 4 hours!  Dead quite, zero floor noise, the incredible details just project from inky blackness...you really notice this at the end of songs as they fade into this deep black silence.  The next track re-emerging, building, as you forget how high you've set the volume!  Never harsh or brittle - and here is the magic, even at higher volume levels.  Levels that would have you diving, on most other non-Super V-R tubes, to turn down as the etch becomes annoying.

With the sweet nature of these tubes, it allows you to add this additional volume, the sound becomes enveloping.  You're really projected into a different venue.  What the high end headphone experience is all about!

These are my new reference tubes - so I will describe the other V-Rs based on these.

#2 1975 Silver Shields - these are almost a tie for first.  They actually have even more detail!  But lack a bit of the liquid flow that's so captivating on the '75 grays.

Also have the tonal richness and sweet character.  Likewise the same bass extension and tightness.  Ditto for the sound stage as above.

#3 1978 Silver Shields - Just a bit less detail then above.  Great flow, slightly smaller sound stage - but still wide and deep compared to most tubes.

#4 1976 Gray Shields - A little less detail again.  Good flow - the sound stage is very good.

#5 1977 Silver Shields - Very detailed, a little more analytical.  Nice harmonically rich tone - The Prince of V-Rs.

#6 1974 Gray Shields - Very nice tube.  Liquid mid range, sweet tonality.  A slight reduction in the ultimate detail retrieval and sound stage width and depth. Good bass.

#7 1979 Silver Shields - Amazing detail and mid-range liquidity.  This is were, what I refer to as the 'Super-Voskhods', starts.

#8 1980 Silver Shields - Awesome tube - borders on greatness.  Lacks the extreme detail of the above mentioned tubes.  Also - not quite the tonal richness (would not recommend added volume with these)

#9 1979 Gray Shields - With the '79s and '80s the Silver variant is better - More detailed.  That's not true after '79 - in fact the 'King' is the '75 Grays.

#10 The 1981 -1989s Gray or Silver - Good tubes, won't bowl you over.  Pleasant to listen to.

After that - the 1990s on - pretty pedestrian.

If you don’t mind saying, Peter: what tube are you currently using in the front end of your Inspire?

My Inspire is on sabbatical for a time while I play with some solid state toys  :o

But my favorites have been among these.  The 6n23p for the reliable go to.  Tireless listening, depth and even freq response.  The 6n1p sounds stronger in dynamics, more lively.  The 6n6p even more so.  I will swap those types in when listening to harder driving music or when moving around the house doing things and want the music to project more.  This has been primarily with EL34/KT77 power tubes.  The 6n1/2/6p tubes are also nice with mellower power tubes like the 6V6's for general use.

Yes, I would.  I don't know if anyone really needs a match quad for this class of tube.  Just how I had bought them.  PM me and I'll send you my paypal address if you are going that way.

One pair = $50 + $5 + $1.71 = $56.71, unless I can interest you in more   .

Hi again,

I have one single, 1964 from Foton plant that has square getter (see below).  The pair is 1977.  I don't know in which plant they were made, but they have round or dish getters.  I don't have test results for the single.  I purchased it as NOS and the clean pins support that.  I have test results for the 1977 pair, but those don't match your request.  Let me know if you want me to post those results.

The single would be $25.80 shipped and including paypal.
The pair would be $46.44 shipped and including paypal.

Thanks for your interest.    ........Peter

I'm not familiar with 5c4m.  I googled and it seems to be equivalent or related to 5Z4, 5Y3GT and others.  Mostly 5Z4 I think.  I do have 5Z4's I believe, and some other rectifiers.  Can you be more specific?   Thx
