As it says, I have a new dac coming and want to wring the most out of my music collection with what I have.I have my music on a Lenovo Ideapad 500 laptop with i7 processor and 12 gig of ram. Music for now is stored on the HD but I'm open to persuasion to move it to a usb stick if necessary.I've ordered a Sabaj Da2 which has native DSD 512 and PCM 32bit/384Khz. All the music I own is ripped to either FLAC or wav from my own collection via EAC and played back via FBar 2000 through usb to my DAC and hence headphones, AKG K92.I think, from what I have read, that upsampling the ripped files has an audio benefit, and I would rather do it with software and store than do it on the fly as I listen. Can someone recommend a suitable format to rip or convert to and how do I set up Fbar 2000 to play them?Hope someone can help me out on this one, thanks, Lol.
I’m afraid you do overestimate the impact of up-sampling or converting to another format like DSD.
I have no opinion one way or the other Vincent, I have merely read what other people have stated from their own experiences and it seems to be a mixed bag.@ Larry - my laptop i7 is the 6500U, a twin core so the internet tells me, so if you have any copies of Bug Head that will work please do send me them, and thanks for the other info, very useful.Regards, Lol
Give HQ player a try. It is one of the best sounding music players and can up sample to over 8x dsd. It has a learning curve but is easy to use. There is a 30 day free trial period.http://www.signalyst.com/consumer.html
Do you have a drop box account? If not you I will send you my drop box address and you can download a few versions from there. I will set it up tonight. Also, Bug Head needs to run with ASIO driver vs WASAPI. If you DAC runs with WASAPI there is a program that converts WASAPI to ASIO. Does you DAC come with drivers that you had to install? You can also install ASIO For ALL driver.Larry
I downloaded the trial. It doesn't play through my computer hookup at all.http://www.signalyst.com/quickstart.htmlQuick? I've transferred a file to test and there's no sound. I've gone through the upper menu and I can't figure out how to connect to the output. It's playing, I went to Settings and found the output to my DAC and..... no sound. There's no help in the Help menu.
Do you have the virtual volume control on the upper right turned all the way up. That is a common mistake.
WHAT? Who the hell sets a music players volume default setting at ZERO??? That was it, thanks!
