I'm building a new audio rack out of solid Maple and could use some advice on attaching the top shelf. The two lower shelves are 55" x 19" x 2" and the top shelf is larger at 61" x 20" x 2-1/4". The legs are 2-3/4" x 3" and will attach to the sides of the lower shelves (similar to Timbernation for those familiar with their design). The top shelf will sit on top of the legs and overhang them similar to a desktop or table. That shelf weighs about 65 lbs. and together with my VPI Classis Signature, which weighs about the same, will form a fairly heavy piece. From an isolation perspective, am I better off rigidly attaching the top shelf to the legs, or decoupling it using something like Herbie's Superior Decoupling Spikes? The rack will sit on a carpeted slab, and I will probably use adjustable Herbie's Gliders for the feet.
