XLR LFE Input with Active Crossover vs using built in low pass filter

Hello,
I am finding it difficult to sift through the information on the various options for the amp. Has someone tested using the LFE (which according to one piece I read has a wider ranger?) vs filtering at the sub?
Thanks

I do that with my HX800XLR3 servo amps using the XLR inputs and external DSP crossover to my main speakers. Works great.

thanks for responding!
To clarify you do preamp -> sub -> dsp -> main speakers or
preamp -> dsp -> sub
-> main speakers

Music server -> DSP Crossover -> Subs
Analog Source-> -> Amps
Mine is a tri-amp setup with all balanced connections. The DSP crossover takes all inputs and drives all outputs. I have delay running between the mains and subs for time alignment.

Rich's (HAL) setup is fairly unique. It is the only DSP crossover system out there that is truly a high end piece of gear.
Outside of Rich's set up I would try to keep that type of product out of the signal path and just send a full range signal to the servo amp and use the controls there to handle everything.
