Full range speaker recommendations

I was hoping for some ideas re: a pair of full range speakers that would work well w/ my Teac A-L700P digital amp. It was extensively modded by Vinnie Rossi and it has enough power (30 watts) that true high efficiency is not a necessity, in the neighborhood of 90 dB w/o large impedance dips should work well. It is not a large room, 15' X 22' w/ a cathedral ceiling and treatments. The distance to the sweet spot is roughly 9 feet w/o jamming the speakers against the wall.
I have standmounts w/ a sub now and the low frequencies localize too much. The Sonus Faber Concertino Homes I am using are very nice and smooth but a little small and closed in sounding. Speakers that retain their clarity and dynamics at lower levels would be particularly attractive. Used is not only acceptable but even preferred as my budget is small. The SF's would probably be sold to keep costs reasonable.

OK, in that case, check out the VMPS RM30, much shorter, much slimmer, amazingly good value for the $$.

Tyson's original suggestion looks very good. I don't know if that guy will ship those large line arrays to Jersey but if he will, I think they will work well with that amp. Very efficient.

Tyson, what is the efficiency of the RM30's? I'm not familiar with the specs but they are supposed to sound very good. Do they work well with low powered amps?

Those look nice and the price is right.
Those are perfect for your low powered amp.

I emailed the guy re: the line arrays, and he thinks they are sold. They did look B-I-G though.

A shot in the dark- I own a Decware SET amp and they also make speakers. I visit their website at times to look around and there is a "radial" loudspeaker, the RL-1.5 that has published specs that are very SET friendly and just might make it a good partner for both the Teac I have that Vinnie modded and maybe even the smaller Tripath that Vinnie is doing called the Clari-T.
This speaker is kind of along the lines of the Ohm Walsh of a few years back but it has a small ribbon tweet and is more directional than the Ohm.
Anyways , I've never heard it and I was wondering if anybody else has and could give some feedback.

I owned a pair of Decware radials for a time. They weren't too bad, but I would describe the tonal balance as being rather "odd". Interesting design for sure, but I ended up returning them.

I would suggest Tannoy coaxials as a design to look into if you seek high efficiency. They've got the single driver idea goin' but without the problems of beamy cones and such.

Go ahead and burn me at a stake, but one to consider, that is already known to be very synergistic with Tripath, is the Monitor Audio Gold Reference series. These are very full range, fairly sensitive at about 91db/6Ohms, fast as hell, and have a really warm and resolving sound; perfect combination.

I have to recommend the Teton GS by Reimer Speakers. They are very efficient at about 95 db 1watt/meter. These are among the most accurate and musical speakers I have ever heard and their performance is comparable with much higher priced speaker systems and may have no equal at 3 times the retail price. With the purchase of these speakers over a year ago I have
finally found the quality of reproduction I have been looking for. Now I
just listen to the music without being conscious the chain of components reproducing the music. Nirvana is a good place. Scotty

I certainly believe my friend Scotty. I have another set to recommend and that's the Daedalus Audio DA-1. These superb speakers are 96 DB efficient, and are tremendous. You can read my review on AC in the Critics Circle.

I am currently listening to Pink Floyd "Dark Side" and the realism is uncanny. These speakers were a hit at RMAF. Double Ugly ordered a pair and should receive his in a week or so.

Call Lou Hinkley at Daedalus and see what kind of a deal that you can get.

Bob Brines FT-1600 speakers are 94 dB/w/m floorstanders using a single driver thats rated down to 37 Hz. Prices are very reasonable ($850/pair fully finished) and he has a variety of kit offerings as well. Bob knows his designs and does good work.

A couple of guys on the Decware forum own them. One sold his $1700 Decware HDT speakers after getting the FT-1600. I own Bob's FTA-2000 which provide deeper bass, no whizzer cone, less efficient, and almost double the money. Bob was easy to deal with, a gentleman.
