Here I have a pair of discontinued Roan Audio Model 7 bookshelf speakers. Asking for $1200 local pickup.
They were constructed with Norway Seas (one of the most prolific and respectable drivers maker) Excel woofer and tweeters with custom crossover. These are at the time their top of the line components, and on their own the 4 drivers are still selling for over $1100.
In addition, they use Cardas internal wiring and solid copper binding posts.
Cabinets are constructed with complete solid wood (not pile wood or MDF). If you knock on it, your hand would get hurt at the same time no vibration whatsoever.
The Oregon company no longer operate, and many industry insiders believe it was due to the material cost being so high, it was hard to justify.
BUT, with my price, you basically get it for less than the price of the drivers and wood being used, nevermind the crossover, posts, etc.etc.
You can get a comparably priced speakers from dynaudio, B&W, Klipsch, or any other big manufacturers, and guarantee they will not sound as good as this one. When the raw material cost more then asking price, it's a no brainer.
