Hi,  Newbie here.  Been reading alot, trying to learn.  Into music, especially classical.  I have built a virtual pipe organ and am interested in building a speaker system for it, currently using old Wharfedale stereo speakers and not too happy with them.  Like the idea of open baffle and/or omni-directional using planar or ribbon type for mids and hi end.

Thank you, yes it is in the PC through a program called Hauptwerk.  It can reproduce real pipe organs sampled from all over the world.  The samples are of such high quality, I would like to make speakers (within my limited budget, of course) that can properly reproduce the incredibly wide range of sound, from as low as 16Hz to well beyond audibility with high pitched notes and overtones.

For anything below 30Hz you will need a active sub.

There is no music instrument w/freq over 5kHz, the piano most high note is 4186Hz, more than it just some last models from B3 organs from the 1970s that reach around 5200Hz, beyond that only harmonics.

In a certain church in UK there are a huge organ that have horns that are played only once a year in a religious ritual, these horns play around 12kHz, of course there are no music written for them as few people would listen such treble music.

Thanks for the reply fullrangeman, however what non-organists often don't realize is that the stops (or register) on an organ are in different pitches.  They vary from 8' pitch (the same as a piano) to as low as 64' which is 3 octaves lower (seldom used, but the lowest note would rumble at 8Hz) to as high as 1', which is 3 octaves higher.  Then there are "mixture" which can contain extremely high pitched multiple pipes in various pitches forming something of a chord that can be as high as 5 octaves higher than piano pitch.  These must 'break back' every so often to a lower note as they reach the limits of audibility, but they render brilliance and sparkle to tutti performance.  Some smaller mixtures give the illusion of tinkling bells in fast passages!

So wherever the limit of your hearing is, that is as high as those pipes are tuned.  And their harmonics extend even higher still!

Oh, and as a side note, Hammond organs make all of their tone as a basic sine wave, without overtones.  They don't compare to pipes at all!

Just got confirmation from colleagues on Hauptwerk site, 1' stops go to 16kHz +harmonics on the highest note!  From there on up all the notes break back.

Below 25 cycles the notes are more felt than heard, unfortunately it need a giant baffle to replay these notes at home.
