SOLD

DeHavilland UltraVerve Preamp -Original Model with Goldpoint stepped attenuator.  $1195 plus shipping.

This is the original UltraVerve with Goldpoint volume control, not a remote volume control. It sounds great and is totally quiet.  Just back from service with clean bill of health.  Comes with power cord,  CBS 5AW4 rectifier tube (hand selected by Kara At deHavilland for its extreme low noise), 2- Sylvania 6AH4 (matched replacements with plenty of life), and currently vintage Motorola 6SN7 side getter (one of my faves).  Also included is full backup set of tubes consisting of CBS- 5AW4, 2 -CBS 6AH4, and Sylvania 6SN7 Green label. This Ultraverve was purchased new by me directly from deHavilland.

Cosmetic condition is average due good with slight nick on front panel and small scratch marks on the bottom of chassis consistent with use with the upside down still points on my Sistrum rack.  Service history includes replacement of the original Goldpoint with improved Goldpoint as the original developed a light audible click as it made contact with the next resistor set when changing volume.  Totally silent with the new Goldpoint attenuator.  This was a Goldpoint batch problem and they stood by it 100%.

Other than that, it runs perfectly and sounds fantastic.  Be aware the gain matching adjustment pots (on top) in this design are meant to be adjusted while the preamp is off.  If on and you do adjust them, they will make a loud scratchy noise through amp and speakers even with volume control all the way down.  I run these pots all the way up with my amp, so never an issue.

Plenty of reviews on the deHavilland site.

Weight, double boxing and loads of padding means the ground rate to either coast will be over $50 via Fedex Home.  Closer to Denver and it will be less.  Signature will be required.

Please feel free to ask me any questions.

I spoke with Kara Chaffee today, the computer controlled 32 step remote volume control like the Ultraverve 3 uses is $875 + return shipping.
