Clarinet Upgrades

Been searching the posts to see if putting an active current source in place of R310 on the Clarinet is recommended.

How about an active voltage source in place of R308?

That should tighten it up and give a few extra db of gain shouldn't it?

The upper tube is essentially a current source in the SRPP.  Circuit won't balance with another.  Yes, you might be ablt to use a voltage source for R308, although I would eliminate R308 and run a negative voltage to grid.

Personally, I like the resistor bias for both sections.  Circuit parameters balance and cancel out with matched tube sections.   It's a classic topology, works upside-down too.  Great for matched JFETs even.

Thanks.  I'll try it in standard mode first then, and play with mods next.

BTW:  Do you have a Octal version of the Clarinet as well?

I can't remember.  Not sure I did that.  Somebody might have done it in an earlier post.  It should be possible.
